A Celtic Colours International Festival Community Event!
“Music of the Landscape” is a special weaving of art and music for a Celtic Experience with Cape Breton Landscape at the focus.
Your host for the event is Dr Michelle Greenwell who will be weaving tea and sweets into conversation while she introduces the artists and musicians in the show.
Your Artists will share a background about their work, and their part in this special performance. They include:
Doug Fraser's acrylic landscapes highlighting the Cape Breton Island hills and oceans and highlights the use of light. Doug is celebrating 25 Years as an artist, and will be sharing how he sees the light on the land and water, and the details within his paintings. Doug is from Deepdale, just outside of Inverness. https://www.dougfraserart.com/
Page Simon is from both New York, and Hillsborough, Cape Breton, and will be sharing her photography of the trees and land of Cape Breton Island.
Daniel Kazmierski is a photographer and specialist in pin box photos of nature and nature textures. Also residing in New York and Hillsborough, Cape Breton, he will be sharing his photos of nature on Cape Breton Island.
Mairi Greenwood is a poet and will be writing a special piece for this performance and share the spoken word. Mairi is from Margaree Harbour, Cape Breton.
Your Musicians for the performance will be playing intuitively to the art pieces, sharing the connection they feel to the land through the art and how their music is transformed by this connection. They include:
Colin MacLeod, fiddler from Cupar, Scotland. Colin has been playing intuitively for Michelle's movement programs online, as well as presented in Tenerife, Spain in May this year as part of an Unwinding Trauma Conference. He is trained classically and with his Scottish heritage, and enjoys supporting health and wellbeing through intuitively playing for his audiences. You can find him at www.celticfiddleguru.com.
Donna Hutchison, a harpist from Halifax and Margaree, Cape Breton, has been playing for Tai Chi Cape Breton classes for two summers. Her ability to transform her music to lift up the participants in the class is amazing. She will be bringing special compositions to the performance to accompany the incredible art and landscape representing Cape Breton.
This will be a great opportunity to engage with artists and musicians in a casual setting, getting to know their artwork in a new light. You will feel a lift in your step as you carry on to your next Celtic Colours event.
