Celebrating the Chapters: Honouring 60 Years of Joy, Growth & Gratitude

Man and Woman in their 60's holding art they painted

Steep with me for a moment… ☕💎

There is something powerful about reaching a milestone birthday.

Not because of the number itself, but because of the perspective it offers.

Turning 60 has invited me into reflection, yes—but even more deeply, it has invited me into celebration.

Not the kind of celebration that lasts for one evening.

But the kind that honours the journey.

The moments that shaped us.
The dreams that carried us.
The courage it took to begin again.
The people who walked beside us.
The quiet victories no one else saw.
The laughter.
The healing.
The becoming.

As I sip a warm cup of Nature’s Diamonds tea, I find myself feeling deeply grateful for every chapter that brought me here.

Because every version of ourselves deserves to be celebrated.

Celebrating the Younger Self

I often think about the younger version of me.

The girl who loved movement.
The dreamer who believed creativity could change lives.
The young entrepreneur opening Dance Debut in Alberta in 1988 with passion, vision, and determination.
The woman who said yes to opportunities before knowing exactly how everything would unfold.

At times, we look back at our younger selves and only see what we would do differently.

But what if we paused instead to honour her courage?

She didn’t have all the answers.
She didn’t know where every road would lead.
Yet she kept moving forward anyway.

And perhaps that is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves as we age:
compassion for who we were while celebrating who we were becoming.

Celebrating Courage

There are many kinds of courage.

Sometimes courage looks bold and visible.

And sometimes courage looks like quietly continuing when life feels uncertain.

Over the years, courage has shown up in many forms:
✨ starting over
✨ relocating across the country
✨ following intuition
✨ stepping into leadership
✨ trusting unconventional paths
✨ continuing to learn
✨ sharing vulnerable stories
✨ creating new programs and collaborations
✨ saying yes to possibility

There were moments when the path ahead felt unclear.

Moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough, being enough, or moving in the right direction.

But life has taught me that courage is rarely the absence of fear.

It is choosing to keep moving with purpose anyway.

Celebrating the Pivots

One of the most beautiful things about life is that we are allowed to evolve.

The journey from dance to Tai Chi…
From teaching movement to exploring bioenergetic wellness…
From academic studies to holistic healing…
From wellness education to tea rituals and podcast conversations…

None of these were separate chapters.

They were connected threads.

Each experience expanded the next.

Each pivot revealed another layer of purpose.

Sometimes we think changing direction means we failed at the original plan.

I no longer believe that.

I believe pivots are often signs of growth.

An invitation to deepen.
To realign.
To listen more closely to what truly lights us up.

And often, the things we once viewed as detours become some of the most meaningful parts of our story.

Celebrating Community

No meaningful life is built alone.

When I reflect on these 60 years, one of the things I treasure most is the incredible community that has surrounded me.

Students.
Teachers.
Clients.
Colleagues.
Collaborators.
Friends.
Family.
Podcast guests.
Retreat participants.
Tea lovers.
Wellness seekers.

So many beautiful souls have contributed to this journey.

Some offered encouragement exactly when it was needed most.

Some shared wisdom that changed my perspective forever.

Some trusted me with their healing journeys.

Some simply showed up consistently with kindness and support.

To all of you who have attended a class, listened to a podcast, shared a cup of tea, participated in a retreat, collaborated on a project, or simply followed along on this journey—thank you.

You have helped create a life rich with meaning and connection.

Celebrating Tea Rituals

Some of life’s greatest moments happen quietly.

A pause.
A breath.
A sunrise.
A conversation.
A warm cup held between two hands.

Tea has become one of my favourite ways to celebrate presence.

Not just the flavours or aromas—but the ritual itself.

The invitation to slow down.
To reconnect.
To nourish.
To listen inwardly.

Creating the Cape Breton Tea Company has been one of the most joyful and creative chapters of my life.

Each blend carries intention.
Story.
Energy.
Connection.

And for this diamond celebration, Nature’s Diamonds tea feels especially meaningful.

A reminder that brilliance is formed over time.

That life refines us.

That there is beauty in becoming.

Favourite Moments Along the Way

As I look back across the years, certain moments shimmer brightly in memory.

✨ Opening my first dance studio
✨ Watching students grow in confidence
✨ Teaching internationally
✨ Collaborating with incredible wellness leaders
✨ Creating retreats and community experiences
✨ Recording meaningful podcast conversations
✨ Building the Greenwell Center for Holistic Health
✨ Launching the Cape Breton Tea Company
✨ Walking along Cape Breton shorelines
✨ Witnessing transformation in others
✨ Continuing to learn and grow myself

And perhaps most importantly…

The countless simple moments that often matter most:
shared laughter,
deep conversations,
music,
nature,
friendship,
movement,
and quiet moments of gratitude.

A Celebration Beyond Birthdays

This birthday has reminded me that celebration does not need to wait for milestones.

There is always something worthy of honouring.

Your healing.
Your resilience.
Your growth.
Your creativity.
Your courage to keep going.

Even the smallest steps forward deserve acknowledgment.

So often we move quickly from one goal to the next without pausing to recognize how far we have already come.

Today, I invite you to celebrate yourself too.

Not only for what you have accomplished—
but for everything you have survived, learned, created, and become.

An Invitation to Celebrate

As we continue this birthday series together, I would love to ask you:

✨ What are you celebrating in your life right now?
✨ What chapter deserves more acknowledgment?
✨ What version of yourself would you like to honour today?

Pour yourself a cup of tea.
Pause for a moment.
And celebrate the beautiful journey that is uniquely yours.

With gratitude,
Dr. Michelle Greenwell 💎☕
