Intuition, Art, Frequency, and the Power of What We Create Together

We are delighted to announce that Marian Egan — Complementary Health Advisor & Coach, award-winning author, artist, creator, and international speaker — will be joining us from Ireland for the Cape Breton Island Energy & Arts Immersion Retreat in August 2026.

Register here

Marian brings a rare and deeply integrated perspective to wellness: one that bridges art, intuition, frequency, and embodied self-care. Her work reminds us that creativity is not an “extra” — it is a language through which the body, nervous system, and spirit communicate.

A Collaboration Rooted in Shared Vision

Marian Egan and Dr. Michelle Greenwell first met online at the Knowlative Conference in 2023, and from that meeting a rich collaborative relationship began to unfold. Since then, they have partnered on multiple award-winning and internationally recognized projects, including:

Movement and Music Classes (Award-Winning, 2025)

The Magnifying Peace Project (Award-Winning, 2025)

Symphony of Radiance (2026)

World Mental Health Day Oct 10 (Award-Winning, 2025)

Numerous shared podcast episodes exploring intuition, healing, and creative embodiment

S3 E28 Center your Intuition with Marian Egan and Tanya Levy

S4 E 14 The Power to Heal Yourself with Marian Egan

S5 E3 Releasing Chronic Pain with Marian Egan

Dr Michelle and Marian are currently co-authoring two books exploring the Movement and Music/Symphony of Radiance NeuroArts programs — examining the power behind painting, frequency numbers, layered programming, and the lived experience of intuitive creation.

This retreat marks a rare opportunity to experience this collaborative energy in person, within the land-based, community-centred container of Cape Breton Island.

Marian’s Work: NeuroArts as Self-Care

Marian is the creator of six intuitive card decks, each designed as a NeuroArts tool to support balance, insight, and wellbeing. Her decks combine:

Original artwork

Clear intuitive messages

A unique frequency number that supports energetic resonance

Together, they offer self-care at your fingertips — inviting people to connect with their inner wisdom in moments of stress, pain, or uncertainty.

Her published decks include:

Wisdom, Insight and Foresight

I Dreamed a Dream

Empowered and Thriving

Beyond Transformation

Fifth Dimension

Free to Be Me

Across her work, Marian demonstrates how art can gently reduce pain, regulate the nervous system, and open new pathways of awareness.

What Marian Will Be Offering at the Retreat

During the retreat, Marian will guide participants through two deeply complementary experiences:

Intuitive Painting: Listening to What Emerges

Marian will create a safe, welcoming space for participants to explore the intuitive messages revealed through painting. No artistic background is required. This is about process, not product — allowing colour, form, and movement to express what words often cannot.

Painting becomes a mirror for inner knowing.

Gaining Insights as a Facilitator After Sessions

Drawing on her extensive experience working with clients and groups, Marian will share a powerful and often overlooked aspect of facilitation: what the facilitator receives after the session is complete.

This offering explores how reflection and integration reveal “secret messages” that may otherwise be missed — insights that deepen learning, prevent burnout, and strengthen energetic clarity. While similar ideas exist in Therapeutic Touch documentation, Marian takes this into a much deeper, lived, and embodied dimension.

If you:

work with clients

teach or facilitate groups

hold space for others

or regularly gather in intentional community

…this experience will profoundly enrich how you understand your role within energetic exchanges.

Why This Matters — and Why Now

The Cape Breton Island Energy & Arts Immersion Retreat is about learning together, not performing expertise. It is a space where intuition is honoured, creativity is welcomed, and insight is allowed to unfold naturally.

Marian’s presence brings a vital thread to the retreat:
the reminder that art, reflection, and frequency are essential tools for sustainable self-care and authentic facilitation.

This is not about doing more — it is about listening more deeply.

An Invitation

If you feel drawn to:

intuitive exploration

creative self-care

embodied learning

meaningful collaboration

and a retreat experience that honours both depth and gentleness

…we invite you to join us.

Spaces are limited to preserve intimacy and integration.

When we connect with others through compassion and intention, we activate real biological change — shifting enzymes, calming stress, and creating harmony within the body. The Magnifying Peace Project reminds us that peace is both a feeling and a measurable force of healing. Watch Marian and Michelle’s newest video to discover how simple moments of connection can truly magnify peace.

As we move through the busy and sometimes stressful holiday season, many of us crave peace — not just as a word, but as a felt experience. What if peace wasn’t something we had to seek outside ourselves, but something we could create through the way we connect with one another? The Magnifying Peace Project explores this possibility, blending wisdom, daily habits, and science to show how intention and compassion can transform our biology — and, in turn, the world around us.

In the newest video, Marian Egan and Dr. Michelle Greenwell reflect on how each interaction we have holds the potential to harmonize, heal, and magnify peace. This isn’t just philosophy — it’s a truth supported by decades of scientific exploration into human energy fields, enzyme reactions, and the body’s natural capacity for balance and self-healing.

The Science of Healing Connection

In his influential book Vibrational Medicine: The #1 Handbook of Subtle-Energy Therapies, Dr. Richard Gerber shares the work of Dr. Justa Smith, who revealed that one of the unrecognized principles of medicine is that healers can speed up different enzyme reactions and assist the body to heal itself. (p. 304) This concept challenges the idea that healing is something done to someone. Instead, it shows that healing can be a shared field — a co-creative process of energy exchange and resonance.

The foundation for this scientific understanding can be traced to the work of Ilya Prigogine, who received the Nobel Prize in 1977 for his Theory of Dissipative Structures. His groundbreaking model explained how living systems can move from disorder to order — how chaos can, under the right conditions, reorganize into stability. In simple terms, it offered a mathematical explanation for the Belousov-Zhabotinskii reaction, a chemical process that mirrors how a healer’s intention and focused presence can bring order to the body’s disorganized systems.

From Plants to People: Evidence of Energy Healing

The scientific investigation into healing energy didn’t stop there. Dr. Bernard Grad, at McGill University, conducted research that demonstrated how energy healing could accelerate chlorophyll growth in plants — suggesting that something measurable was occurring beyond placebo or belief. Later, Dr. Dolores Krieger, a nurse-scientist, and Dora Kunz, a natural healer, built upon this understanding through the development of Therapeutic Touch (TT).

Dr. Krieger’s work revealed that TT could increase hemoglobin levels in humans, supporting oxygenation and the body’s natural healing processes. This was a vital discovery: it shifted the conversation from belief in energy healing to biological measurement. Healing intention could be observed, quantified, and replicated — bridging the worlds of spirituality and science.

These findings opened the door to a deeper truth: when we engage with others through empathy, compassion, and love, we don’t just feel better — our bodies actually respond. The enzymes within us become more efficient, our cells communicate more clearly, and our systems move toward harmony.

Healing as a State of Relationship

The Magnifying Peace Project embodies this science in action. When Marian and Michelle talk about how connecting with others can change the chemistry of peace, they are echoing what these pioneering scientists discovered decades ago: healing happens in relationship.

When we meet someone with the intention to heal — whether through a kind word, a listening ear, a shared laugh, or a comforting presence — we initiate a vibrational shift. That person’s physiology begins to mirror the calm and coherence we hold within ourselves. It’s a real, measurable expression of what it means to magnify peace.

Bringing Peace into the Holidays

As we enter the holiday season, this understanding becomes even more meaningful. Family gatherings, social events, and the rush of preparation can bring stress, tension, and emotional fatigue. Yet, these are also opportunities — moments where we can choose to engage differently.

Instead of reacting to the pressures of the season, we can take a breath, center ourselves, and meet each interaction with the intention to heal. When we do, our nervous systems regulate, our energy harmonizes, and we naturally share that peace with others. The people around us feel it — even if they can’t explain why.

By shifting our focus from expectation to presence, from judgment to compassion, we participate in the natural reorganization of life’s energy — the same process Prigogine described, where disorder transforms into harmony.

The Chemistry of Peace

Peace is not passive. It is an active, living state — one that we cultivate with awareness, kindness, and intention. Through every smile, every gentle word, and every mindful pause, we are influencing the very chemistry of life.

The enzymes that support healing are awakened not just by medication or movement, but by the simple act of connecting with another human being in peace. The Magnifying Peace Project reminds us that we each have this power — to harmonize within ourselves, and to bring that harmony into the world.

In a world that moves so quickly, it’s easy to feel like we must constantly be doing, producing, and achieving. Deadlines, expectations, and the pressure to “make things happen” can leave us anxious and disconnected from the natural flow of life. Yet, when we pause and look to nature, we are reminded that everything unfolds in its own perfect timing.

The seed does not rush to become a flower. The ocean tide never misses its rhythm. The sunrise arrives at its destined hour, not a moment too soon or too late. This same wisdom exists within us — if only we allow ourselves to trust it.

As part of the Magnifying Peace Project, Marian Egan’s latest video, “Everything in Perfect Timing,” explores this theme with tenderness and reflection. Through her creative expression, Marian invites us to see peace not as a state we must strive to achieve, but as something that naturally arises when we release control and align with the flow of life.

The Illusion of Control

When we try to force outcomes or rush a process, we often create resistance. Think of planting a garden — if we plant too early or too late, or if we overwater or pull at the seedlings to make them grow faster, we risk damaging the very thing we wish to nurture.

The same is true for projects, relationships, and personal growth. When we push beyond what is ready or ignore the timing of others involved, we can lose the delicate harmony that supports success. It’s not that effort isn’t important — it’s that timing and alignment matter just as much as action.

Very often, when something seems “delayed,” it’s not a setback — it’s a realignment. There may be unseen forces at play, bringing together details, people, and resources we don’t yet know we need. The pause between intention and manifestation is not empty space; it’s the creative field where things come together.

The Power of Intention and Trust

Every journey begins with a seed — an idea, a dream, a desire for change. But that seed needs space and time to grow. When we begin a project with intention rather than urgency, we open ourselves to the magic of synchronicity. The right people appear, unexpected resources surface, and inspiration flows in ways we could never have planned.

This is the heart of trust — believing that life supports us, even when the path is unclear. It is in this trust that peace begins to form. Instead of grasping for control, we can rest in curiosity, wonder, and discovery. Each moment becomes a teacher, showing us what is needed next.

When we work, create, or simply live from a place of openness rather than expectation, we align with life’s natural intelligence. We begin to see delays not as disappointments but as opportunities for deeper preparation. We notice how one door closing can gently guide us toward a path better suited to who we’re becoming.

The Lesson of the Late Seed

Have you ever planted a seed late in the season and watched it still sprout and bloom? Nature reminds us that potential exists no matter the timing — it only needs nurturing. Even if our plans take longer than expected or our progress feels slow, the seed of intention remains alive within us.

When we bring patience and care to our process, we magnify the power of peace. The mind relaxes, the body softens, and the heart opens. This inner alignment radiates outward, influencing how we speak, how we act, and how we connect with others. In this way, personal peace becomes collective peace.

Cultivating Peace Through Perfect Timing

Marian’s Magnifying Peace Project video on “Everything in Perfect Timing” is an invitation to slow down and listen. It asks us to breathe, to trust, and to reconnect with the gentle rhythm of creation. Peace, like a flower, cannot be forced — it unfolds naturally when given space, patience, and care.

As you watch the video, let yourself reflect on where in your life you may be pushing or expecting things to happen too quickly. Ask yourself: What if this pause is part of the plan? What if this waiting time is sacred?

At the Greenwell Center for Holistic Health, we hold these moments of reflection as essential to wellness. Whether through Tai Chi, mindful movement, or creative exploration, every practice we offer helps cultivate patience, trust, and inner peace — qualities that allow life to unfold in its own perfect timing.

So, take a deep breath. Trust the process. The seeds you’ve planted — even the ones sown late — hold infinite potential.

Watch Marian Egan’s new video: “Everything in Perfect Timing” as part of the Magnifying Peace Project on YouTube.
Let it remind you that peace is not something you chase — it’s something that arrives, right on time.

In Tai Chi we also cultivate this sense of patience and timing. Rather than thinking about an exercise program to expend energy, Tai Chi is a cultivating program that provides us with valuable life lessons, like the sunflower blooming late in the season. How might you be providing the space for you to bloom in wellness?

There is something deeply restorative about the simple act of fishing. For centuries, people have gone to lakes, rivers, and oceans not just to catch fish, but to find calm, connect with nature, and share meaningful time with loved ones. In our fast-paced world, the ritual of fishing offers a rare gift: the chance to pause, breathe, and be fully present.

Fishing is not measured by the size of the catch, nor by the outcome of the day. Its value lies in the quiet, shared moments where time seems to stand still. The rhythm of casting a line, the gentle sway of the boat, or the reflection of sunlight on still water becomes a form of meditation. In these moments, the mind quiets, the body relaxes, and the nervous system shifts out of stress and into a state of calm.

At the Greenwell Center, we recognize that wellness is not only about exercise, nutrition, or structured routines—it is about creating spaces where the mind, body, and spirit can restore themselves naturally. Fishing is a perfect example of this holistic approach. By immersing ourselves in nature and practicing mindful presence, we engage multiple layers of wellness simultaneously:

Mental Wellness: The focused attention required when fishing—watching the line, reading the water, and anticipating the tug of a fish—promotes mindfulness. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and enhance overall mental clarity. It helps us step away from the constant chatter of daily life and find stillness in the present moment.

Emotional Connection: Fishing often provides opportunities for shared experiences. Time with family or friends on the water fosters connection, trust, and communication. These interactions create emotional bonds and a sense of belonging, both of which are essential for long-term emotional wellness.

Physical Wellness: Though it may seem gentle, fishing engages the body in subtle ways. Casting, reeling, and maintaining posture on uneven terrain or a boat strengthens coordination, balance, and fine motor skills. Even moments of quiet reflection outdoors contribute to overall vitality by lowering heart rate and promoting relaxation.

Spiritual Renewal: There is a meditative quality in observing water, listening to the wind, and feeling the rhythm of nature. Fishing encourages us to slow down, reflect, and feel part of something larger than ourselves. This connection to nature fosters spiritual wellness, reminding us that life’s value is found in moments of presence, not merely in outcomes or productivity.

Beyond individual benefits, fishing also teaches us a broader lesson in life: peace and connection are cultivated through patience and attention, not control. Much like wellness itself, it cannot be forced—it grows when we allow space for observation, reflection, and gentle care.

At the Greenwell Center, we encourage practices that cultivate this kind of mindfulness and connection. Activities like fishing, Tai Chi, and mindful nature walks help individuals develop awareness of the present moment while strengthening their ability to respond to life with calm and clarity. These small yet profound practices ripple outward, enhancing relationships, communities, and our collective sense of peace.

Ultimately, fishing reminds us that wellness is not just a personal journey—it is relational and environmental. By taking time to connect with ourselves, each other, and the natural world, we plant seeds of calm, empathy, and harmony. Moments on the water are simple, yet they are powerful teachers: they show us how to live fully, love deeply, and move through life with presence and peace.

Whether you are an experienced angler or simply someone who seeks restorative moments in nature, consider embracing the ritual of fishing as part of your wellness practice. Slow down, listen, breathe, and allow peace to flow from within—and into every aspect of your life.

The post The Healing Power of Fishing: Finding Peace and Presence first appeared on Greenwell Center for Holistic Health.

Each year, World Mental Health Day invites us to pause, reflect, and take meaningful steps to support our mental and emotional well-being. This year’s theme expands that invitation: to cultivate peace within ourselves so we can magnify peace in the world around us.

As part of the Magnifying Peace Project, we are exploring the many ways that inner harmony can be nurtured and expressed—through movement, mindfulness, creativity, and compassion. One of these pathways is through a playful, integrative art form known as Double Doodling, shared by Marian Egan in her presentation for World Mental Health Day 2025, hosted by the Canadian Association of BioEnergetic Wellness and the International Association for Specialized Kinesiology (IASK).

The Art of Balance: Double Doodling for Inner Peace

At first glance, Double Doodling looks simple—you draw with both hands at the same time, mirroring your movements across the center line of the page. But beneath its simplicity lies a powerful process for creating inner harmony.

When we use both hands together, we activate both hemispheres of the brain—the left (logical, analytical) and the right (creative, intuitive). This bilateral engagement builds bridges across the corpus callosum, the connective tissue between the two sides of the brain. The result? Improved communication within the brain, greater focus, enhanced coordination, and a sense of inner balance and calm.

As Marian Egan explains, “Double Doodling is a way to bring both sides of yourself together—the thinking and the feeling, the doing and the being. It’s where peace begins—inside.”

When we find that harmony internally, it radiates outward. A calm and centered mind is more likely to respond with kindness, patience, and compassion. Through this simple creative act, we plant seeds of peace that grow through our actions, words, and relationships.

The Science of Brain Integration

Our brains are designed to function as a unified whole, yet stress, trauma, and overstimulation can disrupt that balance. When the brain’s hemispheres aren’t communicating effectively, we may feel scattered, reactive, or mentally fatigued.

Brain integration—the coordinated function of both hemispheres—helps us restore balance and improve overall well-being. Scientific studies have shown that integrating both sides of the brain supports:

Improved emotional regulation: When the emotional right brain and the logical left brain communicate, we process emotions more effectively and recover from stress more quickly.

Enhanced creativity and problem-solving: Bilateral activities improve neural connectivity, supporting the ability to see multiple perspectives and generate innovative solutions.

Better motor coordination and focus: Cross-lateral movement (using both sides of the body) enhances the brain’s ability to manage attention, timing, and coordination.

Greater sense of calm: Bilateral stimulation—through movement, sound, or art—helps soothe the nervous system, reducing anxiety and promoting peace within the body and mind.

When we bring our brain into coherence, our physiology follows. Our breathing deepens, our heart rate stabilizes, and our body shifts from a stress response to a state of relaxed awareness.

The Role of Brain Gym®

One of the pioneering systems in the field of brain integration is Brain Gym®, developed by Dr. Paul and Gail Dennison. Brain Gym uses simple, enjoyable movement-based activities to stimulate neural communication and enhance learning, focus, and emotional balance.

Many of its activities, such as Lazy 8s or Cross Crawl, mirror the benefits of Double Doodling by engaging both sides of the body and brain. These movements support the development of coordination, concentration, and confidence.

Brain Gym practitioners have observed how bilateral integration can profoundly influence emotional wellness. As the brain becomes more organized, people experience greater ease in learning, communication, and relationships. In essence, Brain Gym reminds us that the body and mind are not separate—and that movement, creativity, and awareness are keys to mental health.

By including Double Doodling as part of World Mental Health Day, Marian Egan helps bridge the world of art and neuroscience, demonstrating that peaceful creativity can be a powerful tool for healing.

Peace Begins Within

The Magnifying Peace Project reminds us that peace is not an abstract concept—it’s an energy we cultivate daily through our thoughts, feelings, and actions. When we take steps to nurture our mental health, we are not only helping ourselves but also creating ripples of well-being that extend into our families, workplaces, and communities.

A peaceful mind creates peaceful communication.
A balanced brain fosters balanced relationships.
A calm presence inspires calm in others.

When we practice inner harmony, we magnify peace outward.

Join Us for World Mental Health Day 2025

On October 10, 2025, join us for an inspiring global event.

This year’s program features 12 engaging presentations across three time zones, exploring innovative ways to support mental health and well-being in the workplace and beyond. Each participant will also receive a downloadable Mental Health Handbook, filled with resources and reflective tools to continue the journey toward balance and peace.

Marian Egan’s Double Doodling session is just one of the many experiences that invite participants to reconnect body, mind, and spirit—creating the space where peace can take root and grow.

Cultivating Peace for Yourself and Others

This World Mental Health Day, consider how you can cultivate your own peace—through creativity, movement, mindfulness, or forgiveness. Every time you take a step toward self-care, you strengthen your capacity to support others. Every moment of calm you create within yourself magnifies the collective energy of peace around you.

As you register for the event and prepare to participate, ask yourself:

The Magnifying Peace Project is a reminder that peace begins with one choice, one breath, one stroke of a pen—or one mirrored doodle at a time.

Let’s create harmony within and peace without—together.

Magnifying Peace Project

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves. Yet it is often one of the most difficult. When we hold onto hurt, anger, or regret, the burden weighs heavily on our bodies, our minds, and our spirits. It clouds our ability to move forward, and it keeps us tethered to the very pain we long to release.

As part of the Magnifying Peace Project, Marian Egan shares a heartfelt video on forgiveness, along with her Forgiveness Mantra. Her words remind us that peace begins inside. To create peace in the world, we must first be willing to heal the conflicts that live within us. And often, the first step in that process is forgiveness.

Forgiveness as a Pathway to Peace

Many of us think of forgiveness as something we extend to others—to the person who wronged us, betrayed us, or failed to see us fully. While this is true, forgiveness also begins much closer to home. It is about how we treat ourselves, how we speak to ourselves, and how we allow ourselves to grow.

When we judge ourselves harshly, when we replay past mistakes, or when we hold ourselves to impossible standards, we create barriers to peace. These judgments block our healing, leaving us caught in cycles of shame or regret. Forgiveness is not about excusing mistakes or pretending pain didn’t happen—it is about choosing to release the grip of judgment so that compassion can enter.

In doing so, we open the door to peace.

What Science Shows About Forgiveness

Research in psychology and medicine affirms what spiritual traditions have taught for centuries: forgiveness is healing.

Reduced Stress: Studies show that forgiveness lowers stress hormone levels, reduces blood pressure, and improves sleep. By releasing resentment, we shift the body out of “fight-or-flight” and into a state of calm.

Mental Well-Being: Forgiveness is linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression, and to higher levels of optimism and life satisfaction. It allows the mind to quiet and the heart to soften.

Physical Health: People who practice forgiveness report fewer physical symptoms of illness. The act of letting go reduces inflammation and supports immune function, creating space for the body to restore balance.

Relationships: Forgiveness fosters empathy and reconnection, creating healthier bonds and more resilient communities. When we choose forgiveness, we create fertile ground for trust to grow.

The science echoes what we already know deep down: forgiveness lightens the load we carry and creates room for peace to flourish.

The Responsibility to Ourselves

In the Magnifying Peace Project, we recognize that peace is not passive. It requires intention, attention, and responsibility. Each of us holds a responsibility to ourselves—not to judge, not to cling to impossible expectations, and not to perpetuate harm through self-criticism.

When we release judgment of ourselves, we create the conditions for healing. We recognize that we are human, that mistakes are part of growth, and that self-compassion is the soil from which peace can grow. By offering ourselves forgiveness, we magnify the possibility of extending that same compassion to others.

This is how forgiveness becomes a collective act. When individuals choose forgiveness, they plant seeds of peace in their communities. Those seeds grow into stronger, more compassionate connections that ripple outward, magnifying peace on a larger scale.

Marian Egan’s Forgiveness Mantra

In her video contribution to this project, Marian Egan shares her Forgiveness Mantra. It is a gentle, powerful reminder that forgiveness is not only an action—it is a practice. A mantra, repeated with intention, has the power to shift energy and perspective.

Marian’s Forgiveness Mantra is an invitation to breathe, to let go, and to soften the heart. It guides us back to the truth that forgiveness is always available. Each repetition becomes a seed planted within, a small act of compassion that nurtures our inner garden of peace.

Choosing Forgiveness Daily

Forgiveness is not a one-time event. It is a daily choice. Each day we may find ourselves judging, resenting, or regretting—whether it is toward ourselves or toward others. Each day, we have the chance to choose differently.

Pause and Notice: Recognize when judgment arises. Awareness is the first step toward release.

Breathe and Recenter: Use the breath to create space between reaction and response.

Repeat a Mantra: Marian’s Forgiveness Mantra, or words of your own, can serve as an anchor.

Choose Compassion: Ask yourself: How can I meet this moment with understanding instead of criticism?

These small practices plant seeds of forgiveness that grow stronger with time.

The Gift of Peace

Ultimately, forgiveness is a gift of peace. It allows us to move lightly, to heal more deeply, and to connect more authentically with others. It does not mean forgetting or condoning—it means choosing freedom over bondage, compassion over bitterness, peace over pain.

As Marian Egan so beautifully reminds us, forgiveness is essential to magnifying peace. When we choose forgiveness for ourselves, we create space to offer it to others. And when we offer it to others, we create ripples of healing that extend into the world around us.

May we all find the courage to forgive, the compassion to release judgment, and the strength to nurture peace within and around us

Peace is often thought of as a private refuge — a calm we cultivate inside before bringing it out in the controlled spaces of our lives. Too often, though, emotional turmoil is hidden until it bursts out in frustration, anger, or despair. What if we reversed that ordering? What if we dared to share our peace — not in big public sermons or protests, but in gestures, movements, and practices offered quietly in everyday spaces?

When we choose to embody peace publicly — say, by performing a Tai Chi sequence in a modest urban corner, or breathing in slow stillness in a small circle of quiet — we practice peace in two directions. First, inwardly: we anchor ourselves, slow the pulse, soft the edges, and allow healing. And second, outwardly: we offer presence to others. For those watching, perhaps for just a moment, we become a living invitation — a reminder that calm is possible, that one person’s peace can ripple out.

Inner Harmony Through Shared Expression

Demonstrating peace publicly strengthens our internal coherence. Neuroscience and contemplative studies show that slow, mindful movement practices (like Tai Chi, qigong, slow walking meditation) activate the parasympathetic nervous system, lower cortisol, and reduce anxiety. When we do these in public, we affirm our commitment not just “in private,” but as a way of life. It helps us internalize the belief that peace isn’t fragile—it’s accessible even in adversity.

Moreover, public peaceful practices sharpen our awareness of the present moment and our connection to surroundings. In choosing to be calm under eyes, wind, passing traffic, or ambient noise, we teach ourselves resilience. Over time, we begin to carry that equilibrium inwardly in more turbulent moments.

A Quiet Invitation to Others

But the outward side is where the real magic lies. When someone unexpectedly witnesses another person in serene motion or stillness, several things can happen:

Curiosity and reflection. The observer may pause, notice their own breath, or wonder, “How is that possible in the midst of normal life?”

Emotional contagion. Psychologists describe “emotion contagion,” the subtle transfer of affect from one person to another. Calm is as contagious as tension.

Seed of possibility. For someone in distress or agitation, witnessing someone embodying peace is a small counterexample to the prevailing narrative that only noise, conflict, or reaction is real.

In this way, the act becomes a gift — not preached or forced, but offered. It respects the dignity of others, gives agency, and seeds possibility.

Evidence & Research Threads

While the direct research on individuals doing Tai Chi in public is sparse, broader research and peacebuilding literature offer supportive insights:

Culture of peace and local community engagement
A study on “Enhancing a Culture of Peace” emphasizes that peace is built from the ground up through local engagements, inclusive public hearings, and participatory actions focused on quality of life. Taylor & Francis Online
In other words: peace isn’t imposed from high levels; it’s nurtured where people live, sometimes through small acts of practice, dialogue, art, or presence.

Community-based approaches in peacebuilding
International peacebuilding research stresses the importance of local, bottom-up initiatives to reconstruct trust, social capital, and relationships in post-conflict or fragile communities. inee.org
Though these often operate at a structural level (governance, conflict resolution, trauma healing), they rest on the premise that personal and collective peace practices matter.

Psychology of collective action and expression
Studies in the psychology of protest suggest that simple acts of nonviolent expression can mobilize sympathizers and strengthen shared identities. ScienceDirect+2American Psychological Association+2
While protest tends to be overt and agenda-driven, the underlying principle is close: visible action (done with intention) shapes perception and possibility.

Positive emotion and collective gathering
Recent experiments show that when people feel “positively moved” by collective demonstration, they are more likely to engage in peaceful collective action. gep.psychopen.eu
The parallel: even if not a protest, a shared moment of peace in public may spark ripples of willingness to pause, reflect, or act for better in one’s surroundings.

These threads don’t yet form a neat empirical line from a single Tai Chi in a plaza to a transformed city—but they suggest that symbolic, embodied acts matter. They participate in the network of change.

The Magnifying Peace Project: A Beacon in Times of Angst

Your work with the Magnifying Peace Project is deeply aligned with this ethos: in times of frustration, global discord, or disillusionment, we may feel powerless. Yet even when events feel out of our control, we can choose to shine a light where we are. Every small public gesture—whether a Tai Chi form, a slow breathing ring in a hallway, a mindful pause at a transit stop—becomes part of the tapestry of change.

The “magnifying” happens by layering: your own sustained practice gives you resilience. The public offers quietly connect with others’ hearts and imaginations. Over weeks and months, those small connections accumulate, weaving a broader optics of possibility. Sometimes a single witness becomes inspired to try, or carry that pause into their own network. The net effect? A community more open to calm, less reactive, more attuned to shared grounding.

Practical Tips for Public Peace-Sharing

Choose small accessible spaces. A park corner, a quiet sidewalk, even a plaza alcove. No need for grand stage.

Keep it modest, consistent. Don’t aim to “perform” or impress—but to be steady, sincere, and humble.

Focus on your own embodied presence. Let your attention be first to your breath and alignment.

Offer, don’t push. Be available to the gaze of others, but don’t force engagement. Let curiosity find its way.

Reflect afterwards. Notice how you feel, what shifted, or what passing glances you sensed.

Sustain over time. The power is cumulative, not dramatic.

Public sharing of peace is not about grandiosity or spectacle, but about courage, invitation, and rootedness. When we allow our inner peace to be visible—in small, consistent, grounded acts—we shape both our own harmony and seed new possibility in others. The Magnifying Peace Project is part of that luminous movement, reminding us that even amid angst, our small gestures matter. May more hearts pause. May more spaces soften. And may peace, once inner, become ever more visible in the world.

When we think about peace, it often feels like a vast and daunting idea. Peace between nations, within communities, even within families can seem out of reach when conflicts dominate headlines and daily stressors overwhelm our lives. Yet peace is not only a grand vision—it is also a simple, humble seed that lives within each of us. With the right attention and care, that seed can grow into something far greater than we ever imagined.

Just as a garden begins with a single seed, so too does peace begin with small actions: a compassionate gesture, a kind word, or a moment of listening. While it may feel like these actions are fleeting, the truth is that they create ripples far beyond what we can see. When we plant seeds of peace, we plant possibilities—possibilities for healing, for connection, and for transformation.

The Power of Small Actions

Imagine walking down the street and someone holds the door open for you. It takes them only a second, but the warmth of that gesture stays with you. Later that day, you may find yourself more patient with a colleague, more present with your family, or more forgiving of yourself. That single act has planted a seed of peace that continues to grow.

Research in psychology supports this ripple effect. Studies on “emotional contagion” show that emotions are not isolated—they spread through groups like wildfire. A smile or a moment of kindness can uplift not just the recipient, but also everyone they interact with afterward. In this way, planting seeds of compassion multiplies beyond what we can ever measure.

Science of Peace and Healing

Science is beginning to affirm what many traditions have taught for centuries: peace and compassion are powerful forces for healing.

Compassion and Health: Research shows that practicing compassion reduces stress, lowers inflammation, and boosts immune function. A study from Emory University found that compassion meditation increases activity in brain regions linked to empathy and positive emotions. When we act with compassion, our own bodies experience measurable benefits.

Heart Coherence: The HeartMath Institute has studied how emotions like love and appreciation create a state called “heart coherence.” In this state, our heart rhythms become more ordered, leading to improved physical health, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. When we embody peace and compassion, our physiology reflects it.

Altruism and Longevity: Research from Harvard and other universities suggests that altruistic behaviors—helping, giving, volunteering—are linked with longer life spans. Offering compassion and kindness doesn’t just nurture others; it literally helps us thrive.

Collective Impact: On a larger scale, studies in social neuroscience highlight how group meditation, prayer, or collective intention can influence community well-being. While this area is still being explored, it suggests that when we plant seeds of peace together, the effect may extend far beyond the individuals involved.

Planting and Nurturing the Seeds

Seeds need the right environment to grow—sunlight, water, soil, and care. In the same way, peace requires conditions to thrive in our lives. Here are a few ways we can cultivate it:

Mindfulness as Water
Just as water sustains a plant, mindfulness nourishes the seed of peace within us. When we pause, breathe, and bring awareness to the present, we create space for compassion to grow.

Compassion as Sunlight
Extending kindness and understanding to ourselves and others is the sunlight that warms our seeds of peace. Even small, consistent acts of compassion can nurture resilience in ourselves and our communities.

Community as Soil
Seeds cannot grow in isolation. They need soil rich in nutrients—just as we need supportive communities to thrive. When we surround ourselves with people committed to peace, we anchor our own growth and provide nourishment for others.

Commitment as Care
Seeds require daily care to survive. Peace is the same. By committing to daily practices—whether it is meditation, movement like Tai Chi, journaling, or offering small acts of service—we strengthen the roots of peace in our lives.

Beyond What We Can See

One of the most humbling truths about planting seeds is that we never know the full extent of their growth. A tree may bear fruit for generations. A flower may spread its seeds across an entire field. Similarly, an act of kindness today may inspire someone years from now to act with compassion in a moment of crisis.

We may never see the full impact of our seeds of peace—but that does not mean they are insignificant. In fact, their hidden growth may be their greatest power.

Creating a Culture of Peace

When many people plant seeds of peace together, something extraordinary happens: peace becomes a culture, not just an individual choice. Communities built on compassion and care are more resilient in the face of challenges. Conflicts are resolved more constructively, and people feel safer, more supported, and more connected.

This is the vision of the Magnifying Peace Project with Marian Egan and Dr Michelle Greenwell, PhD CIH BioEW. It is an invitation to find the seed within, nurture it, and help others grow theirs. By magnifying these seeds collectively, we can create spaces where peace is not the exception, but the foundation.

The Invitation

Each day presents us with countless opportunities to plant seeds of peace. We may never know how far their roots will spread or how many lives they will touch. But by acting with compassion, by choosing peace in our words and actions, we become gardeners of transformation.

The question is not whether the seeds will grow—they always do. The question is: what kind of garden do we want to cultivate?

May we each commit to planting seeds of peace, nurturing them with compassion, and trusting in the unseen ways they will magnify into a more peaceful world for us all.

Some rituals shape us quietly over time, weaving a thread of intention through our days until we realize just how deeply they have guided our lives. For Marian Egan, author, artist, healer, and co-creator in the Magnifying Peace Project, the daily ritual of pulling a card from her card decks has become such a touchstone. Recently, Marian celebrated a milestone—pulling her 5000th card.

This practice began as a simple daily inspiration but has grown into something much larger: a source of clarity, grounding, and peace. Each card becomes a compass, setting the tone for the day. Sometimes the cards bring comfort, sometimes they bring a challenge, but always they invite reflection. Through this daily act, Marian has found healing from pain, release from anxiety, and courage to face uncertainty.

She shares that the cards have inspired her artwork, guided her writing, and even opened doors to new projects and relationships. They’ve been a companion on the hard days too—moments of grief, loss, or unwelcome news. Despite not always feeling ready to pause, reflect, or create, Marian persisted. And now, this milestone stands as a testament to the power of manifestation and intentional living—the ability to shape your life by nurturing your inner landscape.

Rituals of Inspiration

Many of us have rituals—some intentional, others unconscious—that help us shape our days. It could be journaling with morning tea, walking barefoot on the earth to ground, or beginning a meeting with a moment of silence. These seemingly small practices can profoundly shift our state of being. They remind us to slow down, reconnect, and notice the present moment.

Science supports this wisdom. Research shows that rituals reduce anxiety, increase confidence, and enhance emotional regulation. By anchoring us in mindfulness, rituals make space for peace to enter. They also create consistency in times of uncertainty, giving us a foundation from which to move forward with grace.

Marian’s ritual of daily card pulling is both personal and universal. It is an act of self-care and an act of creation—inviting the messages of spirit, intuition, and art to flow into her daily life.

The Magnifying Peace Project

This milestone also ties beautifully into the larger work of the Magnifying Peace Project, a collaboration of voices and practices exploring how inner peace ripples outward into the world. The project shares a 16-part video series on YouTube, featuring contributions from Marian Egan, Dr. Michelle Greenwell, and others.

Each short video explores peace in a unique way—through Tai Chi movements like Tor Yu, through artistic reflections, through connection with nature, and through remembering the wisdom that stillness and kindness bring us.

Together, these videos weave a tapestry of inspiration, reminding us that cultivating peace begins within ourselves. When we pause, breathe, and listen to our inner compass, we not only change our own experience of the day—we help magnify peace for the world around us.

An Invitation

Whether it’s pulling a card, moving with the rhythm of Tai Chi, or taking a mindful walk in nature, rituals of inspiration create space for transformation. They bring us back to center, back to truth, and back to the inner peace that is always available.

Marian’s 5000th card pull is a celebration not just of persistence, but of what becomes possible when we commit to small, daily acts of intention. Over time, they add up to a life that reflects our deepest values, and a world that vibrates with greater compassion and kindness.

Explore the Magnifying Peace Project videos on the Greenwell Center YouTube Channel and discover your own ways of cultivating peace. Perhaps today is the day to begin—or recommit to—your own ritual of inspiration.

A Simple Tea Ritual for Cultivating Peace

Mission4Change CommuniTEA from the Cape Breton Tea Company

Rituals don’t have to be elaborate to be profound. One of the most powerful daily practices is preparing and sharing a cup of tea with intention. At the Cape Breton Tea Company, we’ve created Mission4Change CommuniTEA as both a comfort and a cause. With each sip, you not only nourish your body but also contribute to a global initiative that ripples peace outward to the Moyo Family and their village in Malawi, Africa.

This blend features rose and chamomile—two herbs long associated with emotional balance and gentle healing.

Rose invites the heart to soften, to open, and to reconnect with love. Its delicate fragrance is a reminder of beauty even in times of struggle.

Chamomile soothes the nervous system, releasing tension, easing anxiety, and inviting restful calm.

When used together and accompanied by the energy-lifting tools shared on the introductory video, rose and chamomile create a synergy that supports resilience and deep relaxation—an herbal mirror of peace cultivated within.

The Ritual

Prepare with Intention
As you bring the water up towards the boil, but don’t boil the water, take a slow breath. Hold the herbs for the tea in the palm of your right hand and bring in their joy and inspiration. Then, imagine the energy of heat transforming the water—just as small acts of care transform your day.

Steep with Awareness
Place the herbs into an infuser and add it to your cup or teapot, pouring the hot water slowly. Watch the colors deepen. With each swirl of steam, let go of any tension or distraction.

Breathe and Receive
Before drinking, inhale the aroma of rose and chamomile. Let your senses awaken and your heart center open. This awakening of the senses goes beyond the nervous system to empower your limbic system and motor system in coordination.

Sip with Gratitude
As you sip, think of one thing you are grateful for and one way you can share peace with another today. Notice how the flavour of the tea changes with the temperature of the water, perspective and opportunity change so easily like this as well. Perhaps you notice how your thoughts and ideas continue to transform as you continue to sip to the bottom of the cup.

This practice aligns beautifully with our first video in the Magnifying Peace Project series, which explores how simple energy rituals while preparing tea can shift your state of being. Just as Marian’s daily card ritual sets her compass, a tea ritual can become a touchstone—a way to ground, reset, and expand peace within so it radiates outward.

With Mission4Change CommuniTEA, every cup is a reminder that peace is not just a concept—it’s a practice, one that begins in our own hands.

Movement Rituals

For those wanting to be mindful of how they sit, stand, and raise vitality throughout the day, consider our latest online class: Movement and Music. Our first day focused on understanding your posture cues and creating new posture to bring alignment, energy, pain relief, strength and more to your day. You can purchase the series of 12 and begin your journey of mindful movements for wellbeing, with the added feature of intuitive music created for you by Colin MacLeod, art for the experience created by Marian Egan, and connections with nature inspired by Tanya Levy’s photography and quotes.

In a world that races forward, we often overlook one of our most powerful tools for grounding ourselves—our feet. These humble connectors to the Earth anchor us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When we intentionally reconnect—through slow, mindful movement, contact with the ground, and awareness of rhythm—we open a doorway for peace to emerge inside and radiate outward.

As we continue to explore the Magnifying Peace Project, this week’s episode provides insight into the incredible foot massage created with the Tor Yu. Check it out and continue reading more about these powerful movements.

The Feet: Our Untapped Anchor

Our feet are more than just supports; they’re conduits. When we stand barefoot on the Earth or even shift weight mindfully in Tai Chi, we tap into what science calls “grounding” or “earthing.” Research shows that conductive contact with the earth helps regulate our stress response: it normalizes cortisol, relaxes tense muscles, assists better sleep, and fosters overall well-being. You sense this as you sink into the earth and your breath softens and deepens.

Grounding literally connects us to the Earth’s life-force—and brings that frequency up, anchoring calm into our nervous systems. Your sense of being within nature shares how you are connected and the impact of spending time in nature.

Movement as a Pathway to Peace

Movement practices like Tai Chi weave together intention, breath, rhythm, and body awareness—offering what many call “meditation in motion,” and others coin the phrase “medication in motion.” The sense of connection experienced through the joints, muscle coordination, breathing, mental openness to be present with the movement all create a sense of joy through the systems as they are brought into harmony and balance with each other.

Awareness of the bottom of the feet prior to starting can indicate pressure points in certain areas. At the conclusion of movement patterns and time spent with Tai Chi, the feet seem to level out and the pressure points and locked joints loosen. There is a shift in the quality of experience standing on the ground and moving into and out of the ground.

Rhythm, Feet, and the Pulse of Peace

When we move, walk, or shift weight mindfully—especially barefoot on the ground—we tap into an inherent rhythm. Each transfer of weight becomes a message: “I am here. I am supported.” This rhythm creates spaciousness in our minds, softening mental noise and clearing a path for presence.

Tai Chi’s gentle weight-shifting embodies this. One step imbues confidence, another deepens awareness. The rhythm becomes internal—and in that internal rhythm, peace finds a place to rest.

Nature as a Returning Home

Add in the sounds of wind, birdsong, or rustling leaves—and grounding transforms into belonging. Nature therapy, or ecotherapy, consistently shows benefits as you become aware of the stresses having less emotional impact, the energy lifting and the spirit or joy of the moment coming through, a deeper breath with a slowed heart rate, the changes that you can physically experience are incredible. It is in this awareness and experience that peace arrives.

Cultivating Inner Strength Through Grounded Movement

Together, these pieces tell a powerful story:

Grounding through our feet reconnects us to Earth, stabilizing our physiology and emotions.

Rhythmic movement, especially intentional ones like Tai Chi, syncs body and mind—giving room for clarity and calm.

Nature’s presence amplifies the effect, offering sensory return to balance and coherence.

In turn, this embodied peace primes us for confident movement and clear decision-making. When grounded, our choices arise from calm, not reaction. Our steps become deliberate rather than anxious. Peace evolves from abstract to lived.

A Few Inspiring Quotes from Research

How can your sleep be adjusted by daily connections with your feet and the earth? Give it a try and see what you notice.

Discover strength within by noticing your flexibility and strength in the muscles change. Notice how less is more as the body moves with easier action, and less effort. How does this change your idea of a work-out, or an outing in nature?

When you know your day will feel an energy drain, consider how taking time to do a little Tai Chi with your feet connected to the ground might change your outcome and effort.

Practical Ways to Begin

Take off your shoes. Stand on grass, earth, or a natural surface—even for a few minutes. Notice the support, the subtle energy rising, the breath responding.

Move with intention. Try simple weight-shifts or gentle Tai Chi steps—awareness in each shift, breath aligned, pace unhurried. Let the movement feel like a conversation with the earth.

Bring in nature. Do your movement outside. Invite birdsong, sunlight, breeze to enter your practice as allies in grounding.

Pause and reflect. After a few minutes, stand still. Notice how your breath, mind, and mood have shifted. Even small moments transform.

In Closing

Our feet—often taken for granted—are portals to peace. Through grounding, rhythmic movement, and nature’s embrace, we reclaim not only presence, but confidence in action. We move from chaos to calm, from overwhelm to confident clarity.

Here at the Greenwell Center, we invite you to explore this pathway. Let your feet connect you—with the Earth, your breath, the present, and with peace itself. And let that peace guide your steps, your choices, and your impact in a world that longs for grounded presence.
