The holiday season is often described as joyful, yet for many it brings a unique blend of emotional intensity, disrupted routines, travel fatigue, richer foods, and less movement than usual. These shifts can challenge the nervous system, impact digestion and immunity, and leave us feeling depleted rather than restored.

At the Greenwell Center for Holistic Health, we believe that small, intentional daily practices can make a profound difference—especially during busy or celebratory times. In a recent Be Well Podcast episode, Michelle Greenwell sat down with Diana Devi to explore how movement, music, and simple nervous system resets can help us move through the holidays with greater ease, clarity, and vitality.

Meet Diana Devi

Diana Devi is a Clinical Pharmacist, wellness leader, podcaster, and Argentine Tango dancer who helps successful professionals look and feel up to 10 years younger by reconnecting with their bodies, confidence, and vitality. With over 30 years of experience in the medical field, Diana brings a deeply integrative perspective to health—bridging pharmacy, nutrition, exercise, and self-care.

As President of An Ageless Life, Diana works with individuals who recognize that feeling older, tired, or disconnected from their bodies can quietly affect confidence, opportunity, and overall wellbeing. Her work combines evidence-informed healthcare with embodied practices that support rejuvenation from the inside out.

An accomplished Argentine Tango dancer and instructor since 2010, Diana teaches tango as a powerful pathway to body awareness, posture, presence, and connection. She views tango not only as an elegant art form, but as a social and somatic practice that gently regulates the nervous system and restores confidence.

Diana is also the host of The Midlife Reset Show with Diana Devi from An Ageless Life with Diana Devi, where she explores modern approaches to aging well, reclaiming energy, and thriving through midlife and beyond.

The Holiday Challenge: When the Nervous System Is Overloaded

During the holidays, many of our usual wellness anchors are temporarily disrupted:

Richer foods and sugary treats become more frequent

Hydration and mindful eating can slip

Exercise routines are often reduced due to travel or packed schedules

Long periods of sitting, visiting, and resting replace regular movement

Emotional dynamics—family gatherings, memories, expectations—can increase stress

These changes can overstimulate the nervous system, leaving the body in a prolonged stress response. When this happens, people may notice:

Lower immunity

Digestive discomfort

Mood swings or irritability

Brain fog and reduced mental clarity

Fatigue that lingers beyond the celebrations

How Dance, Music & Gentle Resets Support the Body

In the podcast conversation, Diana and Michelle explore how dance and music offer an accessible, joyful way to support nervous system regulation. Even a few minutes of movement—especially when paired with music—can help shift the body out of stress and into a state of coherence and balance.

Dance encourages:

Improved circulation and lymphatic flow

Nervous system regulation through rhythmic movement

Emotional release and mood elevation

Reconnection to the body after long periods of sitting

Diana also shares a simple eye reset technique for the nervous system—demonstrating how subtle, intentional practices can create powerful awareness and shifts. During the episode, Michelle experiences new insights into her own nervous system patterns, highlighting how gentle practices often reveal what we didn’t know we were holding.

Nurturing the Body During the Season of Indulgence

Enjoying holiday foods and treats is part of celebration—but balance is key. When paired with nurturing practices like mindful movement, breath awareness, hydration, and calming rituals (including tea), the body is better equipped to process indulgence without tipping into depletion.

In the episode, Michelle and Diana also reflect on oolong tea, including Just Chill’n with its bright touch of cranberry—a grounding companion for moments of pause, warmth, and nervous system support.

Small Daily Practices, Lasting Impact

The message of this episode—and of the season—is simple: you don’t need to add more to your to-do list. By weaving small, nourishing practices into holiday routines—dancing to a favorite song, taking visual breaks, breathing intentionally, or pausing with a warm cup of tea—you can support your immune system, stabilize mood, and maintain mental clarity.

These gentle acts of self-care don’t take time away from celebration—they enhance it.

Discovering our innate healing potential is a true gift to treasure...how can you return to this state of being and release the angst of dis-ease. Check out this new podcast trilogy exploring the experience of wellness.

How often do we wait until every medical test has been run and every conventional option exhausted before asking a different question—What if my body already knows how to heal?

That question opens the door to bioenergetic wellness, where the language of health is energy, vibration, and intention. It’s the focus of our newest Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell podcast episode, “Beyond the Physical: The Experience of Wellness,” featuring two remarkable practitioners: Kate Montgomery, author and pioneer in sports and frequency healing, and Denise Cambiotti, founder of Muscle Tuners International.

Together we explored how the simplest of techniques—often taking only minutes—can shift years of discomfort, tension, or emotional weight. These aren’t magic tricks; they’re expressions of how energy and consciousness truly function. When blocked energy is released, life begins to flow again.

Why People Turn to Energy Work

Most of us were taught to see the body as a machine: fix the part that hurts and everything will work again. But anyone who has lived with chronic pain, fatigue, or emotional stress knows it isn’t that simple. Beneath every symptom lies an energetic pattern—a combination of thoughts, feelings, and physiology.

Many people arrive at bioenergetic techniques after feeling hopeless. They’ve tried medication, physiotherapy, or surgery, and nothing has lasted. When they finally experience the gentle yet profound effects of tools such as muscle monitoring, acupressure, or five-element balancing, something inside them changes. The realization dawns that healing doesn’t have to be hard; it only has to be aligned.

The Science Behind the “Woo Woo”

Both Kate and Denise remind us that what some dismiss as “woo woo” is grounded in physics, biophysics, and quantum science. Every cell emits frequency; every thought carries measurable vibration. When energy pathways—known in Chinese medicine as meridians—become congested, communication within the body falters.

A few light touches or movements can repattern that communication. The nervous system relaxes, muscles balance, emotions surface and dissolve. Brain function, coordination, and clarity return. It’s not mysterious—it’s the body remembering coherence.

Moments of Transformation

In the podcast, Kate shares stories of Ironman athletes who recovered stamina and focus after minutes of tailored bodywork. Denise speaks of clients whose chronic shoulder or jaw pain disappeared after a short muscle-tuning session. Listeners may recognize the pattern: the moment tension releases, old beliefs release with it.

One woman described feeling “like the lights turned back on” after years of dull fatigue. Another realized she no longer needed to protect an old injury—and with that awareness, her range of motion doubled. These transformations happen quietly, often with tears or laughter, because the body is finally heard.

The Simplicity of Practice

Bioenergetic wellness is not reserved for practitioners. Anyone can begin by learning small, daily techniques—hydration, cross-crawls, breathing patterns, tracing meridians, or gentle self-touch at specific points. Five minutes of mindful movement can reset energy flow for the entire day.

The key is listening. When you notice where you feel tight, anxious, or disconnected, you already have the first clue. Intention plus awareness equals change.

Tea, Stillness, and Connection

Every Be Well episode begins with a tea ritual, and this one features Just Chill’n—a Cape Breton Tea Company blend of black tea, cranberry, and calendula petals.
Black tea grounds the body, cranberries cleanse the heart’s emotional field, and calendula brings sunshine to the spirit. As we sip, we invite harmony to all three levels of being.

That pause between sips mirrors what happens in an energy session: a breath, a moment of stillness, and suddenly the system reorganizes itself toward balance.

Living Beyond Limitation

When we release stored emotion or outdated belief, we create space for vitality, creativity, and joy. Clients often say, “I feel lighter,” or “I can breathe again.” These simple statements are profound markers of transformation. They indicate that the person has stepped back into the flow of life rather than fighting against it.

Both Kate and Denise see their work not as curing but as facilitating remembering—helping people reconnect to their innate ability to heal. That awareness ripples outward, improving relationships, work performance, and overall quality of life.

Looking Ahead: Part 2—Body Maintenance / Living Wellness

This episode is the first in a trilogy exploring empowerment through energy. Part 2, “Body Maintenance / Living Wellness,” will dive deeper into how to sustain these shifts—how regular energetic “tune-ups” can prevent imbalance long before symptoms appear. Just as we maintain our vehicles, we can maintain our personal energy systems through daily rituals, movement, hydration, and intention.

Living wellness means treating the body as an intelligent partner, not a problem to fix. It’s a lifestyle of listening, adjusting, and celebrating coherence.

A Call to Awareness

If you’re reading this and wondering whether bioenergetic wellness could make a difference for you, start small. Take one mindful breath, place your hand over your heart, and thank your body for its constant communication. That single act of recognition begins the healing dialogue.

As we continue this series, may each conversation, cup of tea, and gentle movement remind you that the power to transform has always been within you. Energy follows attention—so direct yours toward living fully, freely, and well.
