There is something beautiful about giving ourselves permission to pause.

Not because the work is done.
Not because everything on the list has been checked off.
Not because we have earned it.

But simply because we are worthy of receiving moments of nourishment throughout the day.

This is the heart of the Sweet Treats blend from the Cape Breton Tea Company — a tea created to remind us that comfort, sweetness, and restoration can be part of our everyday rituals.

The affirmation chosen for this blend is:

“I am nourishing myself and my day with this compassionate pause of goodness.”

Each cup becomes an invitation.

Slow down.
Breathe deeply.
Taste the moment.
Receive.

A Sweet Treat Without the Rush

Many of us reach for comfort when our energy dips — a coffee, a sweet snack, something to push us through the next part of the day.

But what if we could create a different kind of pause?

Sweet Treats brings forward the deep, roasted richness of chicory, creating a satisfying flavour experience that feels similar to coffee, but with a gentler rhythm.

Chicory has been enjoyed traditionally as a coffee alternative because of its earthy, grounding flavour. In this blend, it creates warmth and depth while pairing beautifully with the natural sweetness of fruit and spice.

Combined with oolong tea, Sweet Treats offers a gentle lift. Oolong naturally contains antioxidants and a lower caffeine profile than many traditional caffeinated beverages, creating an opportunity to enjoy focus and flavour without the same intensity of a strong coffee experience.

A moment of presence rather than a moment of pushing.

A compassionate pause.

The Spiritual Essence of Sweet Treats

Every ingredient brings its own story and energetic invitation.

Oolong: The Dance of Balance

Oolong sits beautifully between green and black tea — a symbol of harmony and transformation.

Spiritually, oolong invites us to:

find balance between doing and being

move through transitions gracefully

remain flexible as life unfolds

It reminds us that we are always evolving.

Just like tea leaves transforming through their preparation process, we too are shaped into something beautiful through our experiences.

Apple: The Sweetness of Life

Apples have long represented nourishment, wisdom, and abundance.

Their essence invites:

comfort

gratitude

heart connection

appreciation for simple joys

Apple reminds us that sweetness does not always need to be searched for.

Sometimes we only need to notice it.

Currants: Little Gems of Vitality

Small but mighty, currants bring richness and colour to the blend.

They represent:

inner strength

vitality

resilience

celebrating the gifts within small moments

They remind us that tiny acts of self-care, repeated daily, create powerful change.

Papaya: Warmth & Joy

Papaya brings a tropical brightness — a reminder of sunshine, playfulness, and ease.

Its essence encourages:

openness

creativity

joy

allowing ourselves to receive pleasure

Life is not only something to accomplish.

It is something to experience.

Cinnamon: The Comfort of Inner Warmth

Cinnamon has been cherished across cultures for its warming qualities.

Its spiritual essence invites:

protection

comfort

courage

connection to the heart

The aroma alone can remind us of kitchens, celebrations, family recipes, and memories.

A beautiful reminder that nourishment includes emotion.

Maple Syrup: The Wisdom of the Trees

Maple carries the story of patience.

The tree gathers, stores, transforms, and releases its sweetness in perfect timing.

Maple reminds us:

There is sweetness within us too.

Sometimes we simply need the right season, the right pause, and the right moment to let it flow.

Sweet Treats Latte Recipe

February carries a quieter, more inward invitation. As winter continues to hold us in stillness, this month gently turns our attention toward relational wellbeing—how we connect to ourselves, to others, and to the deeper meaning we carry through challenge, illness, love, and resilience.

As we mark Psychology Month, we are reminded of something foundational: mental health is never separate from the body, the heart, or the energetic environments we live within. Our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and physiology are constantly in conversation, shaping how we respond to stress, care for ourselves, and support one another.

At CanBeWell (Canadian Association of BioEnergetic Wellness), February’s theme—Compassion, Connection & the Psychology of Care—invites us to explore compassion not simply as an emotion, but as a bioenergetic force: one that regulates stress, supports healing, and strengthens our sense of belonging.

Compassion as a BioEnergetic Practice

From a bioenergetic wellness perspective, compassion is not passive. It is active, measurable, and deeply embodied. When compassion is present—toward ourselves or others—the nervous system softens, breath deepens, and the body shifts out of survival mode. These changes create the internal conditions where healing, learning, and resilience can occur.

Research continues to show that compassionate states influence heart rate variability, stress hormone regulation, immune response, and emotional regulation. In energetic terms, compassion supports coherence—bringing the body’s systems into greater harmony. This is why compassion is central not only to mental health, but to whole-body wellbeing.

At the Greenwell Center, our programs help you learn more about this harmony, as well as through CanBeWell. We explore how intentional practices—movement, breath, touch, sound, and mindful awareness—can cultivate compassion as a lived experience rather than a concept.
The Psychology of Care: Beyond the Mind

Psychology Month offers an opportunity to widen the lens through which we understand care. While traditional psychology has focused primarily on cognition and behavior, integrative and bioenergetic approaches remind us that care is relational and embodied.

Dr Michelle Greenwell, CIH BioEW, first graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology, and enjoyed the profound shifts that movement for wellness created at an emotional level. Her work has continued to discover the deeper aspects of well-being through her latest NeuroArts programs – a link of her passion for the arts, music, dance, Tai Chi, and BioEnergetic Wellness. This winter, her Symphony of Radiance program has brought a heightened awareness to this profound way of working. NeuroArts is empowering at a magnitude not seen by basic movement activities, enjoying music, or doing art for creative expression. You can still sign up for the class, and consider how your self-care can be empowered. Class recordings, art, and additional resources are all ready for you to explore.

How we care for ourselves is shaped by:

Our nervous system patterns

Our relational histories

Our capacity for self-regulation and rest

The energetic environments we inhabit—workplaces, homes, communities

Care is not just what we think—it is how we feel in our bodies and how safe we feel in connection.

Through CanBeWell’s educational initiatives, newsletters, and events, we continue to highlight practices that support mental health in everyday living—especially in workplace and caregiving contexts where compassion fatigue, burnout, and emotional overload are increasingly common. Be sure to see the FREE award-winning e-books on the front page of the website – Mental Health for the Workplace and BioEnergetic Essentials.

Connection as Medicine

Human connection is one of the most powerful regulators of wellbeing. Feeling seen, heard, and supported alters physiology, strengthens resilience, and restores a sense of meaning. In bioenergetic terms, connection enhances flow—reducing stagnation and supporting adaptive response.

February reminds us that connection begins internally. Self-compassion—meeting ourselves with curiosity rather than judgment—is often the first step toward healthier relationships with others. From there, care expands outward, shaping families, teams, organizations, and communities.

CanBeWell’s community spaces—newsletters, conversations, workshops, and collaborative projects—are designed to foster this sense of shared learning and belonging. They offer places where people can explore wellness together, grounded in both science and lived experience.

Supporting Mental Health Through Everyday Tools

One of CanBeWell’s core commitments is accessibility. Bioenergetic wellness is not reserved for specialists—it offers practical tools that support daily self-care. Simple practices such as conscious breathing, gentle movement, grounding touch, and intentional pauses can significantly influence mental and emotional wellbeing.

These approaches do not replace psychological care; rather, they complement and enhance it, acknowledging the inseparable relationship between mind, body, and energy.

As Leadership Team President, Michelle’s role has been to help steward this integrative vision forward—ensuring that compassion, research-informed education, and practical application remain at the heart of CanBeWell’s work.

An Invitation for February

This month, we invite you to:

Reflect on how compassion shows up in your body and daily choices

Explore CanBeWell’s resources, newsletters, and events

Consider how bioenergetic practices might support your mental health and relational wellbeing

Engage with a community committed to care, curiosity, and connection

February teaches us that care is not something we offer only when things are easy. It is something we cultivate—through presence, practice, and relationship. Compassion, when understood as a bioenergetic force, becomes a pathway toward resilience, healing, and meaningful connection.

Through CanBeWell and the Greenwell Center, we continue to explore what it means to care well—for ourselves, for one another, and for the systems we are part of.

With warmth and compassion,

There is something timeless about watching children explore their creativity — the way their faces light up as colors blend, the concentration in their eyes as they make each brushstroke, and the laughter that bubbles up when they discover something new. In Marian Egan’s latest Magnifying Peace Project video, this moment unfolds beautifully as she paints alongside her granddaughters. Together, they share not only paint and paper but the deeper lessons that come with creating in harmony — lessons about peace, connection, and love.

When we take the time to guide children in creative exploration, we are doing much more than teaching them to draw or paint. We are helping them to build inner resources that foster emotional regulation, self-confidence, and compassion. Art provides a safe space for self-expression, where feelings can be explored and released in healthy ways. This process naturally cultivates a sense of inner peace — a calm that can later be reflected outward in relationships, actions, and the way they move through the world.

Creativity as a Pathway to Peace

Research in psychology and neuroscience shows that creative activities engage both hemispheres of the brain, encouraging balance between logic and intuition, structure and imagination. When a child paints, their brain integrates movement, emotion, and focus — the same kind of whole-brain activity that mindfulness or meditation produces. These integrated states reduce stress hormones and increase dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated with joy and motivation.

This is why creative expression can be so deeply healing. It invites us to enter a flow state, a moment where time stands still and the mind becomes present. When children are given opportunities to engage in creativity — especially alongside adults who model patience, openness, and encouragement — they learn that peace doesn’t need to be sought outside of themselves. It already lives within, waiting to be expressed.

Modeling Connection and Compassion

Painting with children is also a powerful act of connection. It’s a shared language that transcends words, creating space for genuine presence and togetherness. When we sit beside a child and allow their imagination to take the lead, we send a clear message: I see you. Your ideas matter.

This simple affirmation builds trust and nurtures self-worth. It also teaches children how to hold space for others — an essential aspect of compassion. As Marian paints with her granddaughters, you can feel this energy of mutual respect and discovery. There is no pressure to create something perfect. The goal is to explore, to express, and to enjoy the journey.

In that shared act, peace is magnified — not as a concept, but as a lived experience.

Building Confidence and Calm

Creativity helps children develop resilience. When a line doesn’t turn out as expected or a color mixes differently than planned, they learn to adapt and try again. This gentle process of trial and curiosity teaches them that mistakes are simply part of learning — not something to fear.

In a world where young people are often overstimulated and over-scheduled, moments of creativity offer a reprieve. They slow the pace, invite reflection, and provide time to breathe. By nurturing these experiences, we give children tools for lifelong wellness — the ability to find calm in chaos, to turn inward when life feels heavy, and to express emotion through beauty rather than frustration.

The Ripple Effect of Shared Peace

The Magnifying Peace Project reminds us that peace is not something we achieve once; it is something we cultivate every day through our actions, our words, and our relationships. When Marian paints with her granddaughters, she is helping to grow a generation that understands peace not as a destination but as a way of being.

Each shared moment of creativity becomes a seed — one that will grow in ways we may never see, influencing how children treat themselves and others for years to come.

When we nurture peace within ourselves, we create the capacity to share it outwardly. And when we model this for the next generation, we build a foundation for a more compassionate, connected, and peaceful world.

Let your creativity be a source of calm and connection.

What is your soul's calling? In what way have you been in a world of illness because of spiritual chaos or blocks? In this part of the trilogy, Dr Delphine Rossi explores what our soul means to wellness and how we can cultivate the healing process. Check out the Be Well with Dr Michelle Greenwell podcast series, this is part three.

In the final chapter of our Wellness Within Trilogy, we explore the profound connection between the body, mind, emotions, and spirit through the lens of spiritual healing. Joining me is Dr. Delphine Rossi, a pioneer in holistic health and spiritual wellness, who helps guide individuals toward understanding how life experiences, illness, and personal transformation are all connected at a deeper, soul-centered level.

Understanding Spiritual Healing

Spiritual healing is more than the alleviation of physical symptoms. It’s an approach that recognizes illness and imbalance as messages from the soul — signals that invite reflection, self-honesty, and personal growth. Many of us unconsciously hold beliefs or assumptions about how illness manifests. By exploring these patterns, we can uncover the hidden meanings behind our physical, emotional, or mental challenges.

Delphine’s approach emphasizes that our health is not just about fixing the body. It’s about listening to the messages our life experiences, thoughts, and feelings carry. This perspective can transform the way we engage with wellness, shifting from a purely reactive approach to one of conscious self-awareness and proactive self-care.

Woundology, Illness as Metaphor, and Transformation

In this episode, Delphine introduces the concept of woundology — the unconscious patterns we create around pain or illness that can keep us stuck. Many times, illness carries a secondary gain, such as protection from overextension, or a way to receive care and attention. Recognizing these patterns allows us to gently release them and create space for healing.

Illness can also serve as metaphor: the body often mirrors what the soul is processing. Chronic tension, fatigue, or recurrent pain can reflect unresolved emotional or spiritual challenges. By approaching healing from a soul-centered perspective, we can uncover meaning and purpose in our experiences, transforming suffering into insight and growth.

Ritual, Tea, and Soul Connection

To support this inner exploration, we integrate the mindful ritual of tea. In this episode, we feature Golden SereniTEA from the Cape Breton Tea Company, with the spiritual essence of turmeric and lemon balm.

Turmeric carries the vibration of illumination and renewal, encouraging clarity and resilience.

Lemon balm nurtures the heart, brings peace to the mind, and encourages self-compassion.

Sipping this tea is not just a sensory experience — it’s a practice in grounding, slowing down, and creating a sacred space to receive your soul’s guidance. This simple ritual enhances receptivity to the messages of your body, emotions, and spirit, allowing a deeper level of healing to take place.

Integrating the Trilogy: From Intuition to Dreams to Spiritual Healing

This episode completes the trilogy by connecting the threads of intuitive wellness, dream interpretation, and spiritual healing. The first episode invited listeners to explore the biofield, sensing energy and cultivating inner awareness. The second episode guided us into the language of dreams, learning to interpret messages from the subconscious. Now, we bring these insights together in a soul-centered approach to illness and healing, offering a holistic map for personal transformation.

When we combine these practices — tuning into the biofield, listening to dreams, and exploring the spiritual roots of illness — we gain a powerful toolkit for navigating life with clarity, resilience, and self-compassion.

Meet Dr. Delphine Rossi

Dr. Delphine Rossi is a pioneer in holistic health and healing, blending academic research, community health experience, and spiritual counseling. Her work spans higher education, integrative health programs, and clinical practice, all with the goal of helping people connect to their intuition, explore dreams, and engage in soul-centered healing. She invites individuals to embrace self-honesty, uncover meaning in life events, and experience wellness as an alignment of body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

Your Invitation

Spiritual healing is a journey, and it begins with awareness and intention. If you’re ready to explore your own intuition, dreams, and soul-guided wellness, we invite you to join Dr. Rossi for her upcoming “A Soul Approach to Wellness” workshop in January 2026. Hosted through CanBeWell.org, this workshop offers practical exercises, reflective tools, and guided practices to bring these insights into your daily life.

Take this opportunity to align with your inner wisdom, embrace self-love, and step into a life of conscious, holistic wellness.
