Discovering our innate healing potential is a true gift to treasure...how can you return to this state of being and release the angst of dis-ease. Check out this new podcast trilogy exploring the experience of wellness.

How often do we wait until every medical test has been run and every conventional option exhausted before asking a different question—What if my body already knows how to heal?

That question opens the door to bioenergetic wellness, where the language of health is energy, vibration, and intention. It’s the focus of our newest Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell podcast episode, “Beyond the Physical: The Experience of Wellness,” featuring two remarkable practitioners: Kate Montgomery, author and pioneer in sports and frequency healing, and Denise Cambiotti, founder of Muscle Tuners International.

Together we explored how the simplest of techniques—often taking only minutes—can shift years of discomfort, tension, or emotional weight. These aren’t magic tricks; they’re expressions of how energy and consciousness truly function. When blocked energy is released, life begins to flow again.

Audio Version

Why People Turn to Energy Work

Most of us were taught to see the body as a machine: fix the part that hurts and everything will work again. But anyone who has lived with chronic pain, fatigue, or emotional stress knows it isn’t that simple. Beneath every symptom lies an energetic pattern—a combination of thoughts, feelings, and physiology.

Many people arrive at bioenergetic techniques after feeling hopeless. They’ve tried medication, physiotherapy, or surgery, and nothing has lasted. When they finally experience the gentle yet profound effects of tools such as muscle monitoring, acupressure, or five-element balancing, something inside them changes. The realization dawns that healing doesn’t have to be hard; it only has to be aligned.

The Science Behind the “Woo Woo”

Both Kate and Denise remind us that what some dismiss as “woo woo” is grounded in physics, biophysics, and quantum science. Every cell emits frequency; every thought carries measurable vibration. When energy pathways—known in Chinese medicine as meridians—become congested, communication within the body falters.

A few light touches or movements can repattern that communication. The nervous system relaxes, muscles balance, emotions surface and dissolve. Brain function, coordination, and clarity return. It’s not mysterious—it’s the body remembering coherence.

Moments of Transformation

In the podcast, Kate shares stories of Ironman athletes who recovered stamina and focus after minutes of tailored bodywork. Denise speaks of clients whose chronic shoulder or jaw pain disappeared after a short muscle-tuning session. Listeners may recognize the pattern: the moment tension releases, old beliefs release with it.

One woman described feeling “like the lights turned back on” after years of dull fatigue. Another realized she no longer needed to protect an old injury—and with that awareness, her range of motion doubled. These transformations happen quietly, often with tears or laughter, because the body is finally heard.

The Simplicity of Practice

Bioenergetic wellness is not reserved for practitioners. Anyone can begin by learning small, daily techniques—hydration, cross-crawls, breathing patterns, tracing meridians, or gentle self-touch at specific points. Five minutes of mindful movement can reset energy flow for the entire day.

The key is listening. When you notice where you feel tight, anxious, or disconnected, you already have the first clue. Intention plus awareness equals change.

Tea, Stillness, and Connection

Every Be Well episode begins with a tea ritual, and this one features Just Chill’n—a Cape Breton Tea Company blend of black tea, cranberry, and calendula petals.
Black tea grounds the body, cranberries cleanse the heart’s emotional field, and calendula brings sunshine to the spirit. As we sip, we invite harmony to all three levels of being.

That pause between sips mirrors what happens in an energy session: a breath, a moment of stillness, and suddenly the system reorganizes itself toward balance.

Living Beyond Limitation

When we release stored emotion or outdated belief, we create space for vitality, creativity, and joy. Clients often say, “I feel lighter,” or “I can breathe again.” These simple statements are profound markers of transformation. They indicate that the person has stepped back into the flow of life rather than fighting against it.

Both Kate and Denise see their work not as curing but as facilitating remembering—helping people reconnect to their innate ability to heal. That awareness ripples outward, improving relationships, work performance, and overall quality of life.

Looking Ahead: Part 2—Body Maintenance / Living Wellness

This episode is the first in a trilogy exploring empowerment through energy. Part 2, “Body Maintenance / Living Wellness,” will dive deeper into how to sustain these shifts—how regular energetic “tune-ups” can prevent imbalance long before symptoms appear. Just as we maintain our vehicles, we can maintain our personal energy systems through daily rituals, movement, hydration, and intention.

Living wellness means treating the body as an intelligent partner, not a problem to fix. It’s a lifestyle of listening, adjusting, and celebrating coherence.

A Call to Awareness

If you’re reading this and wondering whether bioenergetic wellness could make a difference for you, start small. Take one mindful breath, place your hand over your heart, and thank your body for its constant communication. That single act of recognition begins the healing dialogue.

As we continue this series, may each conversation, cup of tea, and gentle movement remind you that the power to transform has always been within you. Energy follows attention—so direct yours toward living fully, freely, and well.

Each year, World Mental Health Day invites us to pause, reflect, and take meaningful steps to support our mental and emotional well-being. This year’s theme expands that invitation: to cultivate peace within ourselves so we can magnify peace in the world around us.

As part of the Magnifying Peace Project, we are exploring the many ways that inner harmony can be nurtured and expressed—through movement, mindfulness, creativity, and compassion. One of these pathways is through a playful, integrative art form known as Double Doodling, shared by Marian Egan in her presentation for World Mental Health Day 2025, hosted by the Canadian Association of BioEnergetic Wellness and the International Association for Specialized Kinesiology (IASK).

The Art of Balance: Double Doodling for Inner Peace

At first glance, Double Doodling looks simple—you draw with both hands at the same time, mirroring your movements across the center line of the page. But beneath its simplicity lies a powerful process for creating inner harmony.

When we use both hands together, we activate both hemispheres of the brain—the left (logical, analytical) and the right (creative, intuitive). This bilateral engagement builds bridges across the corpus callosum, the connective tissue between the two sides of the brain. The result? Improved communication within the brain, greater focus, enhanced coordination, and a sense of inner balance and calm.

As Marian Egan explains, “Double Doodling is a way to bring both sides of yourself together—the thinking and the feeling, the doing and the being. It’s where peace begins—inside.”

When we find that harmony internally, it radiates outward. A calm and centered mind is more likely to respond with kindness, patience, and compassion. Through this simple creative act, we plant seeds of peace that grow through our actions, words, and relationships.

The Science of Brain Integration

Our brains are designed to function as a unified whole, yet stress, trauma, and overstimulation can disrupt that balance. When the brain’s hemispheres aren’t communicating effectively, we may feel scattered, reactive, or mentally fatigued.

Brain integration—the coordinated function of both hemispheres—helps us restore balance and improve overall well-being. Scientific studies have shown that integrating both sides of the brain supports:

Improved emotional regulation: When the emotional right brain and the logical left brain communicate, we process emotions more effectively and recover from stress more quickly.

Enhanced creativity and problem-solving: Bilateral activities improve neural connectivity, supporting the ability to see multiple perspectives and generate innovative solutions.

Better motor coordination and focus: Cross-lateral movement (using both sides of the body) enhances the brain’s ability to manage attention, timing, and coordination.

Greater sense of calm: Bilateral stimulation—through movement, sound, or art—helps soothe the nervous system, reducing anxiety and promoting peace within the body and mind.

When we bring our brain into coherence, our physiology follows. Our breathing deepens, our heart rate stabilizes, and our body shifts from a stress response to a state of relaxed awareness.

The Role of Brain Gym®

One of the pioneering systems in the field of brain integration is Brain Gym®, developed by Dr. Paul and Gail Dennison. Brain Gym uses simple, enjoyable movement-based activities to stimulate neural communication and enhance learning, focus, and emotional balance.

Many of its activities, such as Lazy 8s or Cross Crawl, mirror the benefits of Double Doodling by engaging both sides of the body and brain. These movements support the development of coordination, concentration, and confidence.

Brain Gym practitioners have observed how bilateral integration can profoundly influence emotional wellness. As the brain becomes more organized, people experience greater ease in learning, communication, and relationships. In essence, Brain Gym reminds us that the body and mind are not separate—and that movement, creativity, and awareness are keys to mental health.

By including Double Doodling as part of World Mental Health Day, Marian Egan helps bridge the world of art and neuroscience, demonstrating that peaceful creativity can be a powerful tool for healing.

Peace Begins Within

The Magnifying Peace Project reminds us that peace is not an abstract concept—it’s an energy we cultivate daily through our thoughts, feelings, and actions. When we take steps to nurture our mental health, we are not only helping ourselves but also creating ripples of well-being that extend into our families, workplaces, and communities.

A peaceful mind creates peaceful communication.
A balanced brain fosters balanced relationships.
A calm presence inspires calm in others.

When we practice inner harmony, we magnify peace outward.

Join Us for World Mental Health Day 2025

On October 10, 2025, join us for an inspiring global event.

Register here for this FREE event

This year’s program features 12 engaging presentations across three time zones, exploring innovative ways to support mental health and well-being in the workplace and beyond. Each participant will also receive a downloadable Mental Health Handbook, filled with resources and reflective tools to continue the journey toward balance and peace.

Marian Egan’s Double Doodling session is just one of the many experiences that invite participants to reconnect body, mind, and spirit—creating the space where peace can take root and grow.

Cultivating Peace for Yourself and Others

This World Mental Health Day, consider how you can cultivate your own peace—through creativity, movement, mindfulness, or forgiveness. Every time you take a step toward self-care, you strengthen your capacity to support others. Every moment of calm you create within yourself magnifies the collective energy of peace around you.

As you register for the event and prepare to participate, ask yourself:

What seeds of peace can I plant today?
How can I nurture my own mental well-being so that others may be inspired by it?

The Magnifying Peace Project is a reminder that peace begins with one choice, one breath, one stroke of a pen—or one mirrored doodle at a time.

Let’s create harmony within and peace without—together.

For years, we’ve heard that building a new habit takes time and repetition. But have you ever noticed how easily habits form when you’re excited or motivated to grow? What’s the secret? It all comes down to attitude and a willingness to be pliable.

She is also a content creator for the new dance platform, the Library Aesthetic Dance Media and has presented worldwide at the biggest dance teacher conferences including: IADMS, NDEO, BMC and Healthy Dancer Canada. Her knowledge of learning extends beyond the dancer, the educator, and dance schools, as many of her concepts are applicable to business, program development, and parents too.

This conversation is filled with ideas for everyone, whether you’re a teacher, dancer, or simply someone looking to embrace change and live with more ease. Mariah-Jane’s insights provide a fresh perspective on introducing new concepts, overcoming resistance, and making life more radiant.

So, grab your Golden SereniTEA, settle in, and let this episode inspire you to rethink how you approach habits, health, and learning.

Harmony Coasters Foster Change

What are Harmony Coasters? They are 11 infused images prioritizing your transformation through a challenge. You can choose a coaster and enjoy putting it under your glass of water or cup of tea, engaging with the art and the intentions on the back. Or, you can consider the challenge you are approaching, and begin with the first coaster, and add your beverage on top. Reflection, journaling, activities to move you out of this phase of your challenge will move you towards your next coaster and the next step. These coasters include connecting with guides, mentors, or supporters, as well as integrating the possibility of change. You can learn more here.

Resistance in Tai Chi Training

One of the greatest challenges that people find with their Tai Chi practice is that they dive in eager to do it all, make it big, and use the tai chi movements like an exercise. The idea of “less is more” is very hard to idealize. Also, the awareness of subtle changes that happen instantly are hard to imagine. As Mariah-Jane shares her understanding of the body, these ideas and learning tools support finding the true value in the Tai Chi movements. Tai Chi is about finding your Qi, cultivating it for daily vitality, and improve the opportunity for longevity. Resistance slows down this process, and the resistance to change ideas or ways of doing things diminishes the Qi.

This is also true for dance. We were taught to work hard and train for perfection, the ideation that we were already perfect and ready for learning was not considered. As you look at your ideas of change, the resistance you bring to your day or your thoughts, and how new habits may be slowly happening for you, consider how this could be simply different by letting go. Your dance in the kitchen will change, and your ability to find integrative movement and thoughts will blossom.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our conversation being released later this month!

The post Opening the Resistance to Change first appeared on Greenwell Center for Holistic Health.
