Nestled where the Northwest and Southwest Miramichi rivers meet, Wilson’s Point Historic Site in New Brunswick is more than just a place on a map—it’s a gateway to the past and a guidepost for our future.

On a recent episode of the Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tammy Green, a passionate steward of this sacred land and the current Executive Director of the site.

Tammy is a fourth-generation resident who grew up immersed in the stories, stones, and spirits of Wilson’s Point. Through her role, she helps carry forward the legacy of William Davidson, the Scottish shipbuilder, fisherman, lumberman, and politician who founded the community in the 1700s. Today, Wilson’s Point welcomes thousands of visitors annually to explore this historic corner of Miramichi, and to experience its deep Scottish roots through events, storytelling, and the natural beauty of the riverside setting.

In our conversation, Tammy shared how history provides a framework for resilience, identity, and inspiration. From vibrant Haggis celebrations to thoughtfully curated tea parties, Wilson’s Point is a place where tradition comes alive—blending the wisdom of the past with the vitality of the present.

To celebrate the story of Wilson’s Point, we featured a curated selection of teas from the Cape Breton Tea Company—each one inspired by the essence of time and place:

1819 Tickle Ferry Tea – A nod to river crossings and the daily rhythms of early settlers.

1765 Wilson’s Point ScotsTEA – Bold, grounding, and rich with heritage.

1790 Maple on the Miramichi – A smooth blend infused with honeybush and calendula petals, reminiscent of the sweet and subtle surprises found in nature

As we reflected on the interweaving of history and wellness, we centered the episode around this powerful affirmation:

“Life’s sweet treasures are often found hidden inside nature—be open to discover more about the world around you.”

Whether you’re a history lover, a seeker of rooted community, or someone exploring how the land can inform your wellness journey, Wilson’s Point offers a beautiful reminder: the stories that came before us still have much to teach.

Did you notice that Maple Syrup is in one of the teas? We had an opening chat about the making of maple syrup and the yearly ritual that families enjoy.
