Stories: Hugging the Holidays

When Michelle, and former business partner, Natascha Polomski, first began their conversations about creating the Cape Breton Tea Company, they wanted to celebrate tea with a special blend for the Holidays. Hugging the Holidays seemed a perfect way to put the Cape Breton Tea Company on the map.

Launching in November of 2022, the CBTeaCompany, made its debut at the Elves Fair in Inverness, NS. On the gift table was Hugging the Holidays, King George, Queen Mary, Island Passion and Island Orchard. Within only a few short hours, the holiday blend disappeared from the table, and all the blends found a strong reception.

Traveling to Truro, NS for a Holistic Market, the blends continued to gain notoriety for their new label and organic black tea blends. Gift givers were eager to share a little bit of Cape Breton with their loved ones who live away, but also, tea was being returned to parents living just down the road from the Mabou tea heaven. Stories were being shared, and memories of tea, sweets and great family gatherings quickly began to surface. What a joy to bring these beautiful memories forward through tea.

Michelle headed out on the road, heading west to visit family. It was not long before the Hugging the Holiday blend was sold out in West Kelowna, BC with local Tai Chi enthusiasts from the Wine Country Tai Chi Society. Traveling into Alberta, Michelle continued to share the new blends with her colleagues from CanBeWell.org, as well as Look Ahead Marketing. James Lam even shared the tea on his Dream Big Marketing Event which had participants from around the world. The tea continued its journey from Calgary, to Cochrane, to Stettler and the Polar Express Train Ride, to Red Deer, Edmonton, and Barrhead. What a journey for tea to make. Sold out of all blends by the end of the trip, Michelle ventured home without a tea blend in her bag.

This holiday season we know that people from all over the country were able to enjoy the new tea blends, with a few bags heading to Eugene, Oregon, to our colleague Karen Dyrenforth of Badass Business Coaching. As well as with Mairi Britton, of the Celtic Band, Farsan, as she took tea to family in Scotland.

We want to thank all of you who tried, offered opinions for tastings, purchased, shared, and enjoyed our teas this season. We look forward to great fun in 2023 as we bring new blends forward with surprising connections. For those who were not tea enthusiasts, but humored us with having a cup, we are glad to have converted you. Tea brings such joy to our world and a great calm and opportunity for reflection in our day.
Wishing you well in 2023 and remember – Love the Tea You’re With!
