Pu-erh black tea provides a soft richness to this blend, along with the bursts of taste for raspberry and lemon at the forefront.  High in antioxidants and medium caffeine, this blend has the addition of almond, raspberry, lemon and apple pieces, with hibiscus and lemon verbena.  A great tea any time of the day, it is a perfect start to your day, and lift in spirit in the afternoon.

The tremendous effort, creativity, and teamwork required to have the Silver Dart first flown in Canada was undertaken by Alexander Graham Bell and his researchers and inventors, achieving the flight in Feb 1909 on the Baddeck Bay ice.  Mabel Bell served sandwiches and Raspberry, Lemon Shrub to the guests.  Our Cape Breton tea blend brings the tradition of black tea to the forefront with the esteemed recognition that Pu-erh receives by tea drinkers.  Raspberry and Lemon were brought to the forefront to honour Mabel’s Shrub recipe.

This rich black tea is infused with the flavour of lavender and supported by the petals of chamomile, rose and cornflower.  The first sip brings in the rich tradition of a black tea, and then the senses pick up the power of each flower to build a bouquet.  Milk is not required for this blend.  High in antioxidants and medium with caffeine, it is the perfect tea for an afternoon celebration with sweets or sandwiches.

The reference to 1713 is inspired by the rich history of the Fortress of Louisbourg.  Many visitors to Cape Breton Island enjoy the historical site and its period costumes and living for the 18th century.  Louisbourg was a rich source of fish when first established in 1713, and the Fortress became an important trade point for Canadian resources.  On the river banks where the fish were salted and dried, you could find the flowers added to this blend.
